AP says DOJ broke its own rules
WASHINGTON- The head of the Associated Press claims the Department of Justice violated its own rules when it secretly seized records for thousands of phone calls to and from AP journalists. The DOJ says it was part of an investigation into a leak of classified information. AP President Gary Pruitt claims the seizure was overly broad, and Justice failed to notify AP in advance of the subpoena for records, which is normally required. The investigation was to find who leaked information about a foiled plot in Yemen to bomb a U.S. bound airliner.
