Anthony Daisy sworn in as interim mayor of New Roads
NEW ROADS - Anthony Daisy was sworn is as interim mayor of New Roads Wednesday, following former mayor Robert Myer's resignation earlier in the month.
Daisy previously acted as mayor pro-tem before entering the new position. He will act as mayor until the end of 2018.
Myer took a plea and quit amid malfeasance in office charges. He was the second consecutive mayor to be indicted on public corruption charges.
"We're looking to move forward with that and come up with strategies, ideas, and suggestions to move the city forward," Daisy said.
Daisy's position on the city council will need to be replaced at the next council meeting.
