Another city using license plate reader equipment
DENHAM SPRINGS- Police are utilizing a tool that numerous agencies have had for a while to track down people wanted by the law.
The city purchased a license plate reader for one cruiser. A homeland security grant paid for the expensive equipment.
City leaders said they are satisfied with it, especially since it helped Walker Police target a car an accused killer was driving at the beginning of the year.
The computerized equipment and cameras snaps pictures of passing plates and runs a background check on the numbers instantly.
