BATON ROUGE- It smelled like grandma's house inside the Baton Rouge River Center's ballroom.

Holiday Helpers held its annual Thanksgiving dinner. Thursday, hundreds of people got a great dinner because of the program.

This is the 26th year the organization has hosted the dinner and about 300 volunteers helped make the event possible.

"My daughter and I are giving back. We've had so many blessings over this year that in a small way we like to give back," Beckie Armoney said.

The menu was filled with all traditional Thanksgiving items.

Many of the people at the dinner said they couldn't imagine spending their Thanksgiving elsewhere, especially since they're not in the kitchen.

"I worked in a lunch room for 31 years, so I think its time I eat somebody's else cooking," Lucille Elwood said.

According to organizers, the event grows each year.
