Announcement planned after cocaine arrests
BATON ROUGE - Police planned a press conference today to discuss the arrest of workers accused of stealing drugs from the Baton Rouge courthouse.
Last week police arrested William Colvin and Debra Bell, both of whom worked in the Clerk of Court's office, in suspicion of stealing a large amount of cocaine from the courthouse's evidence vault.
They also arrested Bell's son, Colt Bell, and Terrance Ramirez in connection with the scheme. Investigators said Colvin distributed some of the cocaine himself, while Debra Bell gave some to her son and Ramirez, who sold it.
Police said their investigation found 22 kilograms of cocaine are missing from the vault.
Today's press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Metro Council Chambers. News 2's Chris Nakamoto will have more details starting at noon.
