Angola prisoners fix up 200 wheelchairs
ANGOLA - Prisoners at the state penitentiary in Angola loaded up 200 wheelchairs today after refurbishing them to be donated to Libya.
The donation is part of the Join and Friends Wheels for the World project, which collects wheelchairs and sends them to prisons where inmates fix them up. The wheelchairs are then donated to developing nations.
The group has collected more than 34,000 wheelchairs nationwide since it began.
A state Department of Corrections spokesperson said inmates in the program get an opportunity to give back to society, which is part of their rehabilitation.
