ANGOLA, La.- Two Louisiana State Penitentiary sergeants are accused of bringing contraband into the prison.
Warden Burl Cain says it's frustrating to deal with corrupt officials while preparing for a record-setting crest on the adjacent Mississippi River.
A statement from the prison said Sergeants Carlton Bailey and Autry Jones were booked into the West Feliciana Parish jail on Thursday. It says Bailey admitted that he twice brought an inmate marijuana in exchange for cash, but Jones refused to cooperate with detectives.
It says additional charges are pending against both.
West Feliciana Parish sheriff's deputies said they did not know whether the officers had attorneys. A deputy at the jail would not say Friday whether they were still in custody.
