A captain at the State Penitentiary in Angola was arrested Friday, accused of passing a cell phone to a prisoner.

Cathy Stroud is charged with malfeasance in office and introduction of contraband. She posted the $40,000 bond and left the West Feliciana Parish Prison.

West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel said Stroud gave a cell phone to a prisoner but would not discuss other details of the investigation.

Stroud has worked at Angola for more than 30 years.
