BATON ROUGE- Political analysts say even though Governor Bobby Jindal is supporting a candidate for president that Iowans didn't Tuesday night, it's not work for nothing for Louisiana's leader.

Roy Fletcher said despite being paired with Texas Governor Rick Perry, and his poor showing in Iowa, sticking with a sinking ship can only pay off for Jindal.

"People will go, hey, this guy's a loyal kinda guy and loyalty is very much a part of being vice president," said Fletcher.

And the more time he spends on the trail, Jindal gains name recognition, donor interest and likely supporters of his own, all building blocks of a nationwide political future.

"It's a smart play," said Fletcher, "Governor Perry is from Texas, he's supported a Southern conservative and it makes a lot of sense for him politically."

Students studying politics at LSU and putting those lessons to practice in Iowa say Louisiana is benefiting from the exposure too.

Senior Karsten Davis said, "It's kind of cool to see that Louisiana does have some reach outside of just its own sphere in the south."

This isn't the first time Jindal has supported Perry in an election. Our governor had Perry's back in 2010 when he was running for re-election as governor of Texas.
