An itsy bitsy spider was no match for a governor
TRENTON, NEW JERSEY- Governor Chris Christie gave a spider a smack-down when he saw it near his desk phone as he spoke to a group of school kids. The New Jersey Governor told the kids one fun part about being governor is you're allowed to kill any bugs on your desk without getting into trouble. Christie tweeted last week he had "saved a few school children from a spider." The president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals issued a statement about it. Ingrid Newkirk says Christie probably killed it without thinking. She says "some people put the spider outside, but spiders are often scary" and that can prevent people from recognizing their worth.
