An alternate route to help alleviate traffic
ZACHARY- The city of Zachary is on the move, but as the city grows it's having to deal with issues from neglected infrastructure.
A plan is in the works to ease traffic by creating a bypass connecting Main Street, which is Hwy 64, to Highway 19 at McHugh Road.
The four-lane stretch of highway would be called Zachary Boulevard. The project is estimated to cost about $5 million, but drivers we spoke to said it's money well spent.
"It would be wonderful. You have to think of the cost to the community, the taxpayer, so yeah I think it's a good idea," said one resident.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for December, and work should be complete in six to eight months.
