DENHAM SPRINGS - The Denham Springs Marshal's Office is conducting a warrant amnesty program for 35 days.

It's part of an effort to reduce the backlog of outstanding warrants.

Through the program, defendants can pay their fines and court costs in order to avoid arrest, and in most cases pay a $35 bond fee for a new court date.

Once the program ends, the Denham Springs Marshal's Office will again actively seek and arrest those with outstanding warrants.

This program only applies to outstanding warrants issued by the City Court of Denham Springs. Defendants must appear voluntarily and pay fines or bond with a new court date. Once a new court date has been issued the outstanding warrant will be recalled.

The Denham Springs Marshal Office enters all warrants into a national data base. If you are stopped by law enforcement and your license is checked it will show the warrant and you may be subjected to arrest. The Department of Motor Vehicles is also notified, and your license will be suspended until such time as the warrant is satisfied.

You may pay outstanding fines on the Marshal's website or by phone 1-800-701-8560.
