Amite River and Diversion Canal still closed
GONZALES - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's office says the Amite River and Diversion Canal are closed to recreational traffic.
The rivers were closed Thursday afternoon due to high water levels and floating debris after the high amounts of rain in the area over the past week.
Officials say the waterways are not expected to open up until at least Sunday.
