Louisiana State Police identified the driver as 25-year-old Michael Jones, Jr of Amite. State police said Jones was traveling north on LA 1054 when he failed to maneuver a curve, overcorrected and then slammed into a tree. His car burst into flames. Troopers are investigating whether the driver had been drinking before the accident. A blood sample from Jones has been sent for analysis to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
