American Red Cross searching for volunteers this March
BATON ROUGE- March is American Red Cross month. News 2's Rebecca Buchanan met up with some volunteers from the organization to find out what they do and how other people can get involved.
Red Cross volunteers often arrive at the scene of accidents shortly after firefighters and other first responders. Members of the organization help talk to victims of the accident. They help walk them through what's going on and make sure they have a safe place to stay.
"If you're able to make a financial donation, that's what allows us to be out there," Nancy Malone said Wednesday morning on 2une In. "but we need hands to do that as well, so we want you to be out there. Red Cross is all about volunteers."
