Alumni of closing high school appeals to Pope Francis
BATON ROUGE - After the denial by the Diocese of Baton Rouge to keep Redemptorist High School and Junior High open, a group fighting to save the schools is preparing a petition to send to Pope Francis at the Vatican.
Saturday, the representatives from the group ‘Save Redemptorist' collected signatures in Baton Rouge.
Redemptorist High was founded in 1949 and boasted 1,100 students in 1980.
Bishop Muench announced in December 2014, the closing of the two schools due to declining enrollment.
