BATON ROUGE – The son of Alton Sterling, the man who was shot to death by two BRPD officers in front of a convenience store, spoke out for the first time since his father's death.

Cameron spoke about his relationship with his father while calling for peace and unity in the aftermath of the tragedy.

"There should be no more arguments, disagreements, violence, crimes," Cameron said.

Cameron said that his father's death has put a spotlight on a hot topic amongst citizens- police reform.

"My father was a good man, that was a sacrifice to show everyone what has been going on," Cameron said at a morning press conference.

After the conference, Cameron spoke to WBRZ's Natalia Verdina about the last time he saw his father.

"June 14th, the day of his birthday, the last time I saw him, we were sitting in that spot over there, just laughing and like a normal father and son thing," Cameron said.

Although Cameron did not live with his father, he said the two were very close, similar to a bond between two siblings. Since Alton Sterling's death, protestors from around the nation have demanded answers, however Cameron urges protests to remain peaceful.

"Protest in peace, not guns, not drugs, not alcohol, not violence, everyone needs to protest in the right way," Cameron said.

The Sterling family says that they want the two BRPD officers involved in the shooting, Blane Salamoni and Howie  Lake, to be indicted.
