Alsen community braces for more rain
BATON ROUGE - More rain means more trouble for one community trying to recover from last month's tornado.
Blue tarps still cover houses with roof damage in Alsen, where people are now dealing with water damage on top of the existing wind damage.
"It's been kind of tough lately with the weather. Contractors been busy trying to get out to do repairs on people's houses and i'm just waiting," said Alsen resident Cary Lee.
As he and others wait, fear sets in.
"It worries me. I'm really spending sleepiness nights because I don't know how much rain my sheetrock in my house can handle due to the storm tearing up the shingles," said Moses Evans Jr.
The Alsen community was rocked by a tornado in December and a lot of homes are still damaged from the storm.
"The rain has been really stopped all work and clean up of debris as well as getting my roof repair," said Evans.
All folks in the community of Alsen can do now is long for drier days.
"I can't stop the weather, only thing I can do is just prepare for it, just let this system move on and pass," said Lee.
