Alligator found lurking in neighborhood pond
CENTRAL - A 6 ½ foot alligator was found swimming around a neighborhood pond in the Village Lakes subdivision Thursday.
The gator was first spotted Wednesday night, attempting to crawl into a homeowners backyard, where many children play and fish.
"When we saw the gator yesterday, we knew we had to do something about it," said Kelly Walls.
Walls called for help and the uninvited guest was pulled from the pond by Wildlife and Fisheries.
"He hooked the gator, reeled him in and hauled him off," he said.
It took three men 90 minutes to get the gator out of the neighborhood.
The reptile has generated a lot of questions.
"Where did he come from," asked Paul Cancienne. He added, "everybody's talking about it."
"We have a retention pond on the back side of the neighborhood; did he come and walk into the lake?"
Wildlife and Fisheries advises if you see an alligator dead or alive, call them to pick it up.
