BATON ROUGE - Wildlife officials said licensed trappers have captured an alligator in a subdivision pond.
LDWF said the alligator has been living in a small body of water in the Burlington Lakes subdivision and measured about six feet seven inches.
The trappers were able to catch the gator without harming it and moved the animal to a location where it can live undisturbed.
Bo Boehringer with LDWF said nuisance alligator calls increase as the temperature warms up, and gators start waking up and becoming more active.
The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries advises anyone that lives near water to contact them if they see alligators setting up shop in residential areas and to keep close watch over small pets and children when outdoors.
