PRAIRIEVILLE - A temporary road closure that sent area residents on a 45-minute detour in Ascension Parish has come to an end.
Officials announced Sunday plans to reopen Alligator Bayou Rd. to traffic this morning.
Crews worked to install two drainage pipes under the roadway Saturday, but saw more delays while waiting for additional equipment to arrive Sunday from Florida.
Once those pipes are in place, crews will set two engines to drive pumps on Frog Bayou.
Drainage officials say the pumps will be able to transport 50,000 gallons of water per minute from Frog Bayou into Bayou Manchac.
Alligator Bayou Rd. has been closed since January.
