Alabama tourism ads on hold as oil moves closer
Tourism officials in Alabama have plans for a $15 million marketing campaign, but a series of television ads is on hold while experts assess the extent of tar balls landing on beaches there. The commercials will tout the region's entertainment and dining options. The state plans to spend $6 million on the commercials.
BP paid $25 million to Florida, and $15 million each to Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi to promote tourism in the midst of the massive oil spill.
