Airline Highway back open after wreck
BATON ROUGE - Authorities reopened Airline Highway South near I-12 in Baton Rouge after an 18-wheeler wreck Friday afternoon.
The Department of Transportation and Development said southbound lanes on Airline Highway between Old Hammond and I-12 were blocked by the wreck, which happend around 2:45 p.m.
Baton Rouge Police said the wreck caused a gas tank to leak on the truck, which had to be cleaned off the road before it could be re-opened. It took Hazmat crews several hours to clean up the spilled fuel.
Southbound traffic was rerouted onto Old Hammond Highway, and the queue from the wreck reached Florida Boulevard at one point.
