After Wallace, group wants last of Angola 3 released
BATON ROUGE- A humanitarian organization is calling for the release of the third, and last incarcerated of the Angola Three.
Albert Woodfox remains in prison after Herman Wallace, 71, was released Tuesday from Hunt Correctional Center after a judge decided his indictment in the 1970s violated his Constitutional rights. There were no women on the jury.
Wallace was indicted for killing an Angola guard. Woodfox and a third person were also connected to the killing.
Wallace has cancer and is now in hospice care in New Orleans.
Amnesty International has been calling for their release for a while.
The other man in the group was released in 2001.
