PHILADELPHIA - For a year, the Joker's been out of sight, out of mind and out of trouble.

That changed Wednesday in the pages of "Batman" No. 13. Writer Scott Snyder brings the so-called clown prince of crime back to Gotham to unleash his demented vision of change and, in the process, ensnare Batman and his cohorts in a measured rage of psychotic cleansing and anger.

The issue is the first of what Snyder and DC Entertainment have titled "Death of the Family." It will touch the publisher's various Batman-related titles from now through February and ensnare not just Bruce Wayne, but Batgirl, Catwoman, Robin and members of the Teen Titans.

Snyder calls the story a "deeply psychologically terrifying story" for Batman that will change the Dark Knight.
