BATON ROUGE – Following an investigation of Belaire High School's football program by the LHSAA and the EBR School System, the principal of Belaire High School has been transferred to "Principal on Assignment," according to school officials.

Superintendent Warren Drake announced the transfer of Roy Walker and Belaire assistant principal Angela Jones will serve as acting principal of the school. Walker's transfer will be effective beginning Nov. 3. According to school officials, principals on assignment serve as administrators in a variety of capacities throughout the district. Walker's current assignment will involve overseeing discipline centers and the elementary expulsion site.

Jones will be joined by Jamicia Payne as assistant principal.

Walker, along head football coach Claude Coleman, dean of students and athletic director Chauncey Moore and school counselor Linda White were placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Moore has been "relieved" of athletic director duties, however remains as the school's dean of students. Belaire football coach, Claude Coleman remains on administrative leave.

According to East Baton Rouge Parish School System officials, more than 20 faculty and staff members, parents as well as students were interviewed during the investigation.

The investigation was initially opened by the LHSAA last month regarding the school's football program, however no further details of the allegations are known at the time of this post.
