Addis mayor pro tempore arrested after alleged hit and run in parking lot

ADDIS - Addis Mayor Pro Tempore Russell 'Rusty' Parrish was arrested after he was accused of a hit and run in a parking lot Sunday.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred in the parking lot behind a Taco Bell on Highway 1 Sunday afternoon. Upon their arrival, a woman told deputies Parrish had struck her with his vehicle in the parking lot.

Detectives made contact with Parrish, an Addis council member who is serving as they city's mayor pro-tempore, and questioned him about the incident.

Parrish told authorities that the woman had jumped onto his vehicle multiple times. After removing her from his vehicle for a second time, Parrish says he got into his vehicle.

When the woman jumped on his car for the third time, Parrish told police he pulled off with her still clinging to the side of the vehicle. He admitted that he saw her fall from the vehicle before leaving the scene and heading home.

Parrish was taken into custody and charged with hit and run.
