Activists worried van is cruising neighborhoods, stealing animals
PRAIRIEVILLE- Animal activists are concerned about a mysterious white van seen driving around parts of Ascension Parish with "SPCA" posted on the side.
They are concerned the van is not legitimate and up to no good.
"Any dog that you love, you must keep it on your property, you must keep it in your house. You must watch it because they're not safe," Helen Morales said.
Morales spotted the van in her neighborhood, Quail Creek earlier this week. She reported it to the nearest SPCA, the SPCA of Livingston which said doesn't operate a van similar to the one Morales described.
Morales said she saw it slowly maneuvering about her neighborhood, almost like the driver was stalking something.
"They're out there canvassing neighborhoods," Morales assumed. She believes the man may be connected to people who steal animals and sell them on the internet.
The SPCA of Livingston said there was a second report this week about the van from St. Amant.
