ACLU says school district promotes racism
EUREKA, CALIFORNIA- A Northern California school district is accused of pervasive racism and of condoning a tradition where female students are groped.
The ACLU filed a federal lawsuit against Eureka City Schools saying leaders ignored complaints of racial taunting and bullying and disproportionately discipling minority students.
The civil liberties group also claims district staff condoned and even participated in the groping tradition.
The suit is behalf of four teenage Native American and black students.
The district says its investigating the claims made in the lawsuit but doesn't tolerate harassment or discrimination.
