Accused rapist shot by police in Hammond
HAMMOND - A man accused of raping two women near Hammond was shot and wounded by Hammond Police early this morning, according to sources.
Police said Durelle Jones, 24, was taken to a a hospital after exchanging gunfire with two Hammond Police Officers. It happened after police confronted him outside a convenience store.
Jones is accused of kidnapping two women and raping them before taking them to LaPlace, where one of the women was able to attract attention.
