Accused rapist did odd jobs around hotel where he was caught
BATON ROUGE- An accused serial rapist apparently worked at the hotel where he was arrested by U.S. Marshals Tuesday.
Van Dixson is suspected of nine attacks in Texas and has been linked to four through DNA. He was apprehended in Baton Rouge after he took a bus to Louisiana and solicited work at a hotel on Florida Boulevard when he could no longer afford rent the hotel said.
Dixson reportedly did handy work for a day before he was caught.
"He was working here and he was fixing my toilet and I was laying down and he was just looking and I didn't know who he was," one woman who stays at the hotel said.
The woman said Dixson told a tale of being on the run from his past that included a killing.
"He said he had done something up north and someone beat his daughter and he jumped on them and killed them."
Dixson is in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $5 million bond awaiting extradition to Dallas.
