BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies booked a man Tuesday accused of multiple thefts and break-ins at car wash businesses in two parishes.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies said 53-year-old Hubert P. Bourgeois faces charges of armed robbery and burglary in their parish, after he was arrested on similar charges in Ascension Parish.

Investigators said in September and October Bourgeois broke into car washes on Millerville Road, Coursey Boulevard and Airline Highway. In some cases deputies said he cut a hole into the metal roof of the business to get inside and steal more than a thousand dollars from the cash box.

EBRSO detectives said on Nov. 9 they were notified by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office that Bourgeois had been arrested there for similar car wash break-ins. An EBRSO detective interviewed Bourgeois there and said he confessed to the other burglaries.

Deputies booked Bourgeois into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail Monday on the charges he faces there. He was released and taken back to Ascension Parish on Tuesday.

EBRSO said Bourgeois was also arrested in 2007 and 2009 for committing the same crimes, using the same method of entry at Baton Rouge area car washes.
