Accused Bourbon Street gunman fights extradition
NEW ORLEANS - The 20-year-old man accused of starting a deadly gunfight on Bourbon Street is fighting his extradition from Mississippi.
Trung Le, also known as "Joe", was taken into custody by members of NOPD's violent offenders unit and U.S. Marshals in Mississippi late Friday afternoon.
Le is believed to have engaged in a gun battle with another man who has yet to be identified.
Nine were injured in the early morning shooting and 21-year-old Brittany Thomas of Hammond died as a result of the shooting.
