Wednesday morning rush plagued with traffic problems
BATON ROUGE- The Wednesday commute got off to a slow start as wrecks on both sides of I-10 forced traffic to a crawl.
First, I-10 West was closed after a multi-vehicle accident shut down the interstate over the Mississippi River for a few minutes. Congestion quickly built and at one point traffic was backed up to Airline Highway on I-12 West and beyond Essen Lane on I-10 West. By 8 a.m., most traffic from this issue had cleared.
But, as traffic was clearing from the westbound wreck, two lanes of I-10 East at College Drive were closed because of a crash. It took about an hour to clear the lanes. Traffic reached beyond LA 415 on I-10 East and North 22nd Street on I-110 South.
