The Acadia Parish Police Jury has unanimously delayed action on the introduction of a proposed
ordinance to establish a parishwide juvenile curfew.
The Advocate reports a legislative committee will discuss the matter during an October meeting to determine whether it merits discussion by the entire jury.
Authorities say the parish has no curfews in effect for juveniles under 18.
Juror John Quebodeaux said Wednesday the jury received a written request from the sheriff's department to adopt a curfew ordinance for juveniles during weekdays and weekends.
Quebodeaux said he thought the ordinance should have been referred to a committee before being brought before the police jury.
