About-face in CIA leak case
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA- Federal prosecutors are doing an about-face in a case where they pushed to get testimony from a reporter for the New York Times about leaks from the CIA.
Prosecutors don't want James Risen to testify at the trial of an ex-CIA employee, Jeffery Sterling. Prosecutors contend Sterling leaked details about a botched CIA operation in Iran to Risen but say Risen made it clear he won't identify his sources, so there's no point in calling him to testify.
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Risen's effort not to testify.
Now Sterling's lawyers want him to testify on their client's behalf but prosecutors are trying to block that.
