Charles Gibson, who anchors "World News Tonight" on ABC, is retiring at the end of the year. Gibson took over as the "World News" following the death of Peter Jennings and wartime injury of Bob Woodruff.
Gibson, who has been at ABC News for 35 years, will be replaced by current "Good Morning America" Co-host, Diane Sawyer.
Gibson says he plans to continue as an occasional contributor.
