A Weekend Cold Front
Expect another round of showers and thunderstorms on Friday afternoon coupled with locally heavy rain and some occasional lightning. We are not in a risk category for severe thunderstorms today, but we could still experience some random storms that reach near severe limits. Areal coverage today should be on the order of 40% between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM this afternoon. We could also see some of these showers linger into the late evening hours tonight.
Expect much of the same with the weekend forecast calling for a 50% chance for showers and thunderstorms for both Saturday and Sunday. A rare early summer cold front will make it's way into northern Louisiana beginning on Saturday and should pass our area by Sunday afternoon. We won't notice much difference with the temperatures, but the humidity will be a little less once the front passes. We will only experience a degree or two drop in temperatures with the passing front as showers linger late into Sunday evening along and ahead of the frontal boundary.
