7th District Fire Station nearing completion
GONZALES - Volunteer firefighters won't have to wait much longer for repairs to the 7th District fire station in Ascension Parish, which was damaged in a tornado.
Crews have just a few more days of work left on the building's facade and the garage area, and the station will be as good as new.
Firefighters said the work hasn't hampered their rescue efforts, either.
"I still don't think it really affected them, they still looked like they were still able to perform even though they had the destruction," said Melissa Braud, who works at the dentist's office next to the fire station.
The work is expected to completed by Monday evening and total about $230,000, most of which was covered by insurance.
