BATON ROUGE - WBRZ viewers dropped off 75 pallets of electronics for Recycle Your Electronics Day in Baton Rouge.

Four truck loads of computers, printers, Atari game sets and more made their way to the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council warehouse. Electronics get separated into what can be saved, used for parts or recycled for material. The electronics that just need fixing get refurbished and sold, most to low-income families, seniors and non-profits.

"It's preventing electronic waste from going to the landfill, and unfortunately it seems like people would know not to do that, but about 60 to 70 percent still get thrown away here in America," said Nancy jo Craig, the Executive Director of CACRC.

To recycle or buy old electronics go to their downtown warehouse at 1400 Main St., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
