MORGAN CITY - Two people were arrested after a 7-year-old juvenile was reportedly kidnapped from a home Friday night, according to the Morgan City Police Department.

Officers with Morgan City PD responded to the area of Roderick Street around 9:15 p.m. Friday night in response to a reported kidnapping.

Officers learned a 7-year-old juvenile was removed from the residence without the parent's knowledge, according to MCPD. Detectives then responded to the scene, and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office was also called to assist.

Through the investigation, the child was located safe in Houma, Morgan City PD said. Investigators then traveled to Houma, where 27-year-old Leona Allen and 29-year-old Deona Jones were arrested in connection with the investigation. Both women are extended family members of the victim and admitted to taking the child without the mother's permission or knowledge.

The two suspects were transported to the Morgan City Jail and booked on charges of simple kidnapping.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to Morgan City PD. Check back for updates.
