PRAIRIEVILLE - Eastbound delays on I-10 stretched back into East Baton Rouge following a two-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish just before lunch Monday.

A pickup and semi appear to have side-swiped, sending the pickup into the tree line along I-10 just east of Highway 73. Emergency crews closed one eastbound lane. By 11:15 a.m., traffic had reached Bayou Manchac in EBR, a 3-mile delay.

The pickup lost its front, passenger-side door and was heavily damaged along the side. Pieces of the truck were smashed and stuck to the semi, which was hauling new vehicles. The airbags deployed in the pickup.

There was no information about injuries.
