6-year-old shot in the neck with his father's gun
PITTSBURGH, Penn. - A 6-year-old boy was shot in the neck in his home in western Pennsylvania.
His older brother pulled the trigger. The 9-year-old was playing with his father's hand-gun, teasing the family dog with the laser sight. Their father was asleep.
The victim's father and step-mother, Christopher and Crista McNeely, were both arrested and charged with child endangerment, Thursday. Police say the pair knew the gun was loaded and and it was left on the kitchen counter. The father, Christopher McNeely was also charged with allowing minors to possess firearms and reckless endangerment. According to Police, the 29-year-old stored five long guns in his 9-year-old's bedroom with 8,600 rounds.
The 6-year-old boy was critically wounded in the shooting, which happened on August 5th. Now he is being treated in outpatient physical therapy.
