6-laned I-12 is a highway dream
PONCHATOULA- At least one lawmaker dreams of having six lanes of traffic bustling down I-12 through Tangipahoa Parish.
State Senator Dale Erdy said he would like to see a wide interstate from Baton Rouge to the Mississippi state line. Much of the highway system is already six lanes, but some parts are only two in each direction.
"It literally went from a parking lot to a speed trap and that is what has kind of happened from the expansion of it going from two to three lanes," Erdy told ActionNews17.com.
The widening has been submitted to state transportation leaders as one item on a road wish list.
