WBRZ - Baton Rouge

ASCENSION PARISH - Investigators are on the scene of a single vehicle crash in Ascension Parish that killed a young child.

It happened just before 8am Monday on Hwy. 44 (Burnside Ave.) off I-10 South.

According to State Police the vehicle the child was riding in ran off the road while in a curve. The five-year-old was not restrained and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
