LAFAYETTE - Louisiana State Police say a 5-year-old girl has died from critical injuries suffered last week when a tractor-trailer slammed into the back of a school bus.
State police said Karen Stoute of Port Barre died Monday morning at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The little girl was among three children critically hurt in Friday's accident on U.S. 190 between Port Barre and Opelousas. Eighteen other children and both drivers had minor to moderate injuries.
State police say a 15-year-old remains in critical condition at an area hospital. Troopers say the third child, an 8-year-old, has been released from the hospital with moderate injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
