BATON ROUGE - As the PGA Tour makes its annual stop at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, five current and former Tigers will be teeing off in the event.

The opening round at TPC Louisiana in Avondale gets underway on Thursday.

Former PGA Champion David Toms and PGA TOUR rookie Smylie Kaufman will be automatic crowd draws as they have been paired together for the first two rounds. They’ll play alongside Charley Hoffman on Thursday at 12:40 p.m. from the first tee and Friday at 7:40 a.m. from the 10th. Kaufman is having an unbelievable rookie season, already having earned $2,075,938 with three top-10 and seven top-25 finishes in 2015-16.

Toms is returning for the first time in two weeks after he tied for 14th place during his appearance at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The first Tiger, Andrew Loupe, tees off Thursday at 8:40 a.m. from the first tee. Senior All-American Zach Wright begins at 1:40 p.m. along with Ben Taylor at 10 minutes later at the 10th tee.

Loupe is enjoying the most successful season in his three-year career as a member of the PGA TOUR, claiming $705,463 in earnings leading up to the Classic with a trio of top-10 finishes and four top-25 finishes.

Taylor is newly-exempt from Canada’s Mackenzie Tour in his rookie season at LSU. He’s No.10 in the college rankings, according to Golfstat ratings.

World No. 1 Jason Day headlines the field with No. 5 Rickie Fowler and No. 10 Justin Rose, according to LSUsports.net. Rose enters the weekend as defending champion after he won last year’s Zurich Classic title by one shot, finishing at 22-under par.
