State Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Michael E. Kirby will not seek re-election this fall to the
judgeship he has held representing Plaquemines Parish since 1999.

Kirby says he plans to retire when his current term is up, ending 35 years of elective service in Plaquemines.

Kirby served as council member and president of two different forms of parish council, and as a district judge in Plaquemines Parish before being elected to the appeals court.
