BATON ROUGE - Emergency crews responded to the scene of an incident where a 4-year-old child was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office provided further updates in the afternoon following the incident, reporting that the driver was not at fault in this instance. A child ran out in front of a van on Landis Drive near Glen Oaks Drive at around 8:30 a.m. and was struck, suffering minor scrapes and bruises.

Investigators are still looking into who was charged with watching the child when the accident happened.

Baton Rouge EMS were at the scene and treated the child for the minor injuries.

EBRSO deputies said the driver passed all field sobriety tests, and will not be cited in connection with the incident.
