Authorities say a 4-year-old boy was killed when a car driven by his father left the road and hit a culvert.
According to a report in The Courier, three others were injured in the crash.
State Police spokesman Trooper Bryan Zeringue said Jayden Parfait was riding in the back of a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Darryl Parfait of Dulac on Friday. Darryl Parfait wasn't injured.
Zeringue says Darryl Parfait has been charged with improper lane usage, DWI with child endangerment, vehicular homicide, three counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, not wearing a seat belt and not using child restraints.
Darryl Parfait was being held at the Terrebonne Parish jail on Sunday. A jailer wouldn't disclose if he had an attorney.
